Summer Mission 2011
The Summer Mission and Jungle Jamboree Holiday Club took place in July. This was our 5th year of having a mission and when we started out in 2007 the aim of the MIssion was to:
Attract younger families into the church
Encourage congregational involvement
Discipline young people by working alongside then during events

Have we succeeded?......................
The week's mission was a huge success and the holiday club, the main focus of the mission week, exceeded expectations of all involved. 87 children registered throughout the week with approximately 70 children attending each day. The evening activities were well attended with some events being standing room only. It was wonderful to see and hear the hall full of families all having fun and enjoying fellowship with each other. Most of the children who attend the holiday club are returning year after year with some even returning to Montrose on holiday to take part!
The congregation are wonderful in their support of the Mission week, they respond to everything that is asked for be it plastic flowers or old socks!
Our young people are a credit to themselves and our church by the way in which they take responsibility for the roles they undertake thought the mission week, particularly in the holiday club. The young folk take on a variety of demanding roles throughout the week and rise to the challenges these place on them and are wonderful role models to the children attending the holiday club.
The Mission Team are a growing band of very hardworking happy people, it is wonderful to see so many people committing to this outreach into the community. It is important that the Mission Team gel as a team and our soup and sandwich lunches following the holiday club are a very important part of this process. These too are growing, last year it was an "in joke" that the tables be set for 25 people, one day this year we counted 36!
We have succeeded in what we set out to achieve in 2007, however it is now 2011, and it is apparent that God is stretching us still further. Where do we go from here? Planning will soon commence for 2012. Please continue to support and pray for the work of the Mission and our church's continued outreach into the community. Elaine Allan
